Delete your account

Last updated 24 September 2026

You can delete your SplitChamp account from inside the app, at any time, without asking us. This page explains how, and exactly what is deleted and what is kept.

How to delete it in the app

  1. Open SplitChamp and sign in.
  2. Tap You.
  3. Tap Delete account at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Read the summary, which lists any group or friend you are not settled up with, and tap Delete my account.

It takes effect immediately. You are signed out and your account is gone.

What is deleted

What is kept, and why

SplitChamp records shared money. An expense you were part of is not only yours. It is also the reason somebody else's balance is what it is. If we erased your side of it, the other members' balances would stop adding up and they would have no way to work out what went wrong.

So the expenses, payments and balance entries in your groups stay, with your name replaced by “Deleted user”. They can no longer be linked back to you: the name and email they were attached to are gone.

Anything only you could see, such as your feed and your session records, is deleted outright.

If you still owe or are owed money

You can delete your account anyway. We will not hold your account hostage to a debt. But be aware that an open balance stays in the group after you go and nobody will be able to settle it with you, because there is no longer an account to settle against. The app shows you exactly which balances those are before you confirm, so you can settle up first if you want to.

Signing up again

Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone. If you sign in again later with the same Google account you get a brand-new, empty SplitChamp account. None of your old groups, expenses or history come back.

Backups

Backups are kept for a rolling window and then deleted automatically, so deleted data can persist in a backup until that window passes. Backups are encrypted and are only ever used to restore the service after a failure.

If you cannot use the app

If you have lost access to the Google account you signed in with, or the app will not open, email support@beanvoid.com from the address you signed in with and we will delete it for you. We may need to ask a question only you could answer, so that nobody can delete somebody else's account.
